ScribblerToo, Fall, And Man

Ze Frank’s Twitter links delight me on a regular basis, but it’s not every day that he offers upgrades of his own products. ScribblerToo, a Paint-like Flash application written by Mario Klingmann, takes doodling to the next level by connecting lines as you draw. It may not sound like much, but the effect lends an amazing depth to otherwise ordinary sketches (i.e. anything I draw).

I chose to stick with black-and-white and default settings, but ScribblerToo is rounded out by a full HTML color palette and adjustable brushes–a noticeable advantage over its predecessor Scribble, which had limited fine-tuning and could only calculate line connections after a sketch was saved.

It has its hiccups–imported images are missing in saved sketches, and the scroll-wheel resizes the paintbrush as you scroll up and down on larger canvases–but by and large this is an intriguing tool that will pique your mathematical and artistic interest.
